In the time of covid, everyon, where I work was all sent home. We were lucky to even be able to work from home. I remember going to the office to get stuff from my desk when no one else was there and how odd and quite it was. I got some equipment to help me work because I did not have a "home office". After many months I got sick of staring at the same boring workstation, practically the same I had at the office. I was also tired of bland(?) and boring colors (I get the irony). I wanted... I needed a change because covid changed people.
So I set out to build a desk that I would love to work at. And since it was at home I could do whatever I wanted. I was a greedy programmer that wantd 3 monitors to have all the pixals. I had also gotten into split ergo mechanical keyboards, another opportunity to add some color.
I designed my desk on SketchUp and then built and painted the desk top. I added the armature for the monitors and adjustable legs. I built my keyboard. OH Boy, was it a lovely sight. The color scheme was based on the 1976 poster I saw and the 1976 Key Caps I wanted to buy. It is a color scheme my wife and I really love.
The desk has had some updates since it was first built. I added a box to hide cables and add stickers to. I tented the keyboard and got a new mouse. I have been iterating on it to make sure I am able to work my best. These are the tools I use to do my job. I need them to be the best they can be.
